Santa Paula

Hubby had to go to his client's place in Santa Paula and I tagged along. Mostly to be his navigator, also because I wanted to take the opportunity to explore anywhere I can (especially since I don't have to drive.. haha) and practice sketching. I have seen so many blogs of people keeping art journals and how beautiful they are and am fascinated with sketching on location. Great opportunity to try :)

Hubby dropped me at McDonalds' before he went to his client's warehouse. I ordered a Mocha and sat outside where the children's playground is and 'officiated' my journal :) I always find it a bit scary to draw on the first page... a lot of pressure! What if I botched it up?

Do you like my funky colored nails? haha... I love the blue polish a lot and felt the mint colored one is too bright, so I paired them together to tone down the brightness of the mint. It's kinda funky and I'm enjoying it.

After I sketched my mocha and journaled a little, I walked 0.6 miles to the Theater Center. There is a little park there with lots of shade and I found a spot where I could sit and sketch the Theater Center with a nice view. It was really peaceful sitting there and sketching. Santa Paula is a very quiet town and there were not many people walking about.

As I sketched and painted, the wind started getting stronger. And it was c-o-l-d! I didn't expect Santa Paula to be so cold in summer.. haha... it was 19 degrees in the afternoon and when I was sitting under the shade, it felt much colder! I was shivering at one point.

I will write more about Santa Paula in my next post :)

Venice Beach Park

We travelled to Venice Beach Park last Saturday and I must say, it is very different from Santa Monica Beach :) The two are completely different places even though they are just minutes apart from each other.

One is more 'proper' with it's fashion outlets, upscale food outlets and malls and the other is entirely 'colorful' with street vendors and their handmade wares, tattoo parlors, skateboarding park and even shops selling marijuana (the sign said 'medical' marijuana... hmmmmmm). Both have street performers but they are of different kinds too :) Very interesting.....

That said, I love both beaches for their own unique, myriad differences :) I would love to spend more time in both places, just soaking up the atmosphere and immersing myself in their culture.

The palms scatter across the beach... so pretty!

Look at the amount of people!

It was so cooling but the sun warms us up... I doubt I can ever get fairer than I was here... LOL.... maybe darker if I go to beaches more :D

I was trying my best to capture the seagull taking off with my iPhone 4s.... they were really near.. unfortunately the camera still has a little limitation. That said, I still think it takes excellent photos! I don't bring my Nikon out much now :P

Graffiti art is on many of the buildings here in Venice Beach Park... :) Most of them are really nice.

I love the little 'cove' on the beach.... not sure if there's a proper term or if I got the term right... it's like this little enclave... I love it!

Fly free! Fly high! There's so much to see and experience in life!

We're in LA now :)

Angelicquirk has moved its' base to Los Angeles, California :) We will be establishing our business here and expanding here from now on.

We're still on 'break' for now but will be resuming our artwork and production really soon :) I will be concentrating on my illustrations for now and bookbinding in the very, very near future.

We visited Hollywood... weather was so hot! and the wind too strong and cold!

Went to Warner Bros :)

Visited the set of F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Us at Central Perk

Another pic at Central Perk

Daffy and me

my good pal, Bugs :)

We have settled on where we want to stay and that is a big sigh of relief... so, we can now take a breather and visit sights here before the Hubby starts work. Will be updating on our move here :) It's a big move, a huge challenge but we believe God will bring us through this.

Onward, forward to our Adventure in LA!
