A Brand New Start

I have been blogging at this space for quite some time now and what started as a personal blog evolved into a crafting blog where I shared my handmade cards, scrapbook layouts, mini albums, Project Life, book binding and well, just about everything crafty.

And as much as I loved what I was doing, I have come to a place where I want this blog to be more structured. Yes, it is still going to be a space where I share my love for crafting with the world but I am also going to be sharing a bit more about other things, for example, food we've tried and loved, recipes, places we visited and maybe a new hobby or crafty things to explore. It's going to be predominantly about crafts & illustrations with a side dose of personal touches. And of course, it's also going to feature my illustrations and artwork that is available in my shop.

Come by and visit me often. I promise to work hard at taking better pictures, illustrating more and sharing them with you :) I will also offer free printables and tutorials. It's going to be fun!

Stars are fun!

When my brother and his gf came to visit, we made a trip to the Griffith Observatory as well. It was a nice, relaxing drive on a Sunday morning and we had to walk quite a distance uphill to the observatory as it is located in the Hollywood Park and there were a lot of people out there trekking, jogging, having picnics and basically just enjoying the park!

We had a good work-out walking up the hill and it was great to be breathing fresh air and enjoying the scenery! We could see most of LA from up there :D

There were shows being, erm, shown at the Samuel Oschin Planetarium and at first we were thinking if we should but we were all glad that we paid and went for it cos it was awesome! The whole dome ceiling is our 'cinema' and the narrator was great. His voice was so pleasing to the ear and the show is very informative. Totally worth every single penny we paid :)

Learned so many interesting new facts that I utilized during lunch.. haha... to which my brother shook his head and said something like, "this is what happens when we bring her to some place educational...."... LOL. Well, at least I remembered what I learned... duh :P

Anyway, I'm going to share a layout I made featuring my cat, Penny.. she's my absolute precious baby and I think secretly she's a princess... so maybe her 'longer' name should be Penelope instead. More regal, ya? :P

This picture was taken back in April, I think.. when it was still quite chilly and Penny enjoyed being snuggled up in the throw. haha... she actually crawled her way in between the throw on her own... that's how cute she is!!

My Baby

Penny is the loveliest cat I can ever want :) She's gentle, cuddly and an overall good girl... she mews loudly during bath time but at least she doesn't run all around the bathroom. She just stays in one spot and mews pathetically... :P But she does like it when she's clean and fluffy white afterwards.

She has big, round shiny eyes and when she looks at you, you automatically melt... haha... But she's very, very shy.. so not many people have seen her heart-melting looks.

She loves sleeping, napping on my work chair, on the bed and on the cushion I sit on.. She looks really lovely when she sleeps too.. sometimes she covers her face with her paws :)

She has completely captured my heart.. even when she's naughty sometimes, I can't seem to get really mad at her... she's my baby and I love her! :)

Fat Cats

I made some cards with these fat cats from Penny Black sometime back... it was posted on my Facebook page, I think... not sure if I've shared it here... will double check and if it's not already posted, I will share it :)

Anyways, a very nice girl saw those cards and asked if she could request them to be made into bookmarks for her friend. She mentioned that if she were to give her friend a card, her friend might just chuck it aside after reading it but if she gives her a set of bookmarks, her friend may just use it and that would make her happy :) Oh, her friend adores fat cats... hence the request for a set of fat cat bookmarks! :)

fat fat cats... so cute!

Photos taken at night so it's not the quality I would have loved

I made the bookmarks in different colours and different sizes to jazz it all up and make it more fun! :) Mainly used organza ribbon cos it's just so much prettier than normal ones... but I did use one in satin... again, just so it's all different :)

These bookmarks are already couriered and should probably reach her this very day as this post is being uploaded :) I do hope she likes them....

Christmas and love

First time making a card with banners! :D And I'm kinda liking it.... cos it's fun to make and it makes the card kinda interesting too...... This cat reminds me of my cat, Tinsel. A Ginger naughty cat but my Tinsel has those huge, round, deceiving angelic eyes... HAHAHA...

Stamped the background with distressed stripes stamps... drew the cross-stitch since I can't bear to poke a needle through my paper... made the banner using PP and baker's twine.. you can't really see it but it's the red and white baker's twine... just like the one I adhered behind the sentiment.

Drew the little hearts myself and glossed it up to make it look more 3D and I based this all on Cardabilities' Sketch #17

I know it's the Christmas season and all but this is like a mix of Christmas and love and hello all together! Notice my little snowflakes at the side? I glittered them up! :)

Hope you like my card and do hop on over to Cardabilities and join us with this fun sketch! :D
