Letterpress delight

I have been fascinated by the letterpress since 2010. Back then, I really contemplated in getting the Epic 6 but it was SOOOO expensive in Malaysia which prompted me to do quite a lot of research on it. I didn't want to invest in a machine (plus accessories) that was going to set me back thousands of Ringgit if I am unable to justify it and so I scoured the internet for reviews.

Most of the reviews mentioned that the plates cracked. And being in Malaysia, I wasn't really sure if I could get plates made or how to go about it too. So, I decided to wait until the industry came out with better machines and better quality plates.

Come 2012, we packed and moved to Los Angeles. I had to sell a lot of my scrapbooking supplies and it was a good thing that I have not invested in the letterpress machine just yet.

Then letterpress came into the limelight again sometime last year, with Studio Calico promoting it. I was tempted again but waited. Was I glad I waited! We R Memory Keepers came out with Evolution Advanced and when I saw the great deal being offered on HSN (well, I saw the info posted by my IG friend.. haha), I decided to take the plunge.....

I made these and they make great accents for Project Life and even for card making :)

I am so glad I made this purchase. From now on, I will finally be able to die-cut, emboss and letterpress (happy dance!). It does take some learning & the cleaning up can be a mess but I love it and find it therapeutic.

If you like letterpress stationery but don't feel like investing in a machine or letterpress set just yet, you can purchase the above sets (or request customized stationeries) from my shop

Cork Embellishments

Before I started Project Life in 2013, I was just starting to get into scrapbooking. I wanted to preserve memories and I love how beautifully scrapbooking makes that. However, I wanted to remember daily bits and pieces too and Project Life made that so much easier :) I would still scrap big events but for our everyday life, I prefer the Project Life method.

And because of that, I am always on the lookout for embellishments that I could use to jazz up the little 3x4 or 4x6 cards. Embellishments that are pretty and yet does not add too much bulk (else it wouldn't fit in the pockets.. haha).

So when I saw that Studio Calico was selling these DCWV cork sheets, I knew I wanted to make some cork shapes for my Project Life pages. I bought my supplies and then I procrastinated (that and I needed new scissors. My old cutter bee basically destroyed my first batch of cork shapes).

I use Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI's vintage cream and Hero Art's Fresh Peach. You've got to wait a a little for the ink to set before handling them (else you get inky fingers... like me). Alternatively, you could heat dry them with heat gun. I want to try embossing them. I think that would be pretty too.

And you would need very sharp scissors to cut these babies. I used my old cutter bee and it was a disaster. The shapes frayed and turned out really badly. These were all cut after I bought a new pair of cutter bee.. So, do take note of that.

If you like any of these and don't have the time to make them, you could custom request and I will make and list them in my shop for you to purchase.

Christmas and love

First time making a card with banners! :D And I'm kinda liking it.... cos it's fun to make and it makes the card kinda interesting too...... This cat reminds me of my cat, Tinsel. A Ginger naughty cat but my Tinsel has those huge, round, deceiving angelic eyes... HAHAHA...

Stamped the background with distressed stripes stamps... drew the cross-stitch since I can't bear to poke a needle through my paper... made the banner using PP and baker's twine.. you can't really see it but it's the red and white baker's twine... just like the one I adhered behind the sentiment.

Drew the little hearts myself and glossed it up to make it look more 3D and I based this all on Cardabilities' Sketch #17

I know it's the Christmas season and all but this is like a mix of Christmas and love and hello all together! Notice my little snowflakes at the side? I glittered them up! :)

Hope you like my card and do hop on over to Cardabilities and join us with this fun sketch! :D
