Coffee Blog Hop Day 2

It's Day 2 of the Coffee Lover's Spring Blog Hop. Have you checked out the hop and the cool sponsors that are giving away prizes at the end of the hop?? psssttt : I'm giving away some coffee themed digitals from my shop

Today, I am sharing this card :) Bright and cheery for a Saturday morning, ya?

I used Always a Good Idea, Coffee Anytime and Coffee + Me for this card

I created some faux stitching and added some hearts with a puncher to create balance for the coffee mugs at the bottom left of the card :) The coffee mugs are popped up with foam tape to create dimension. If you noticed, I also added white dots on the mugs using Uniball Signo white gel pen. I love how the white dots has a little texture once they dry.

I am also giving away my calligraphed "Enjoy Life" digital image with every purchase of $9 or more from my store. This weekend only! This image will be emailed to those with qualifying orders within 24 hours of your checkout from my store.

Hope to see your cards linked up and do check out my store for the digital images :)

Letterpress delight

I have been fascinated by the letterpress since 2010. Back then, I really contemplated in getting the Epic 6 but it was SOOOO expensive in Malaysia which prompted me to do quite a lot of research on it. I didn't want to invest in a machine (plus accessories) that was going to set me back thousands of Ringgit if I am unable to justify it and so I scoured the internet for reviews.

Most of the reviews mentioned that the plates cracked. And being in Malaysia, I wasn't really sure if I could get plates made or how to go about it too. So, I decided to wait until the industry came out with better machines and better quality plates.

Come 2012, we packed and moved to Los Angeles. I had to sell a lot of my scrapbooking supplies and it was a good thing that I have not invested in the letterpress machine just yet.

Then letterpress came into the limelight again sometime last year, with Studio Calico promoting it. I was tempted again but waited. Was I glad I waited! We R Memory Keepers came out with Evolution Advanced and when I saw the great deal being offered on HSN (well, I saw the info posted by my IG friend.. haha), I decided to take the plunge.....

I made these and they make great accents for Project Life and even for card making :)

I am so glad I made this purchase. From now on, I will finally be able to die-cut, emboss and letterpress (happy dance!). It does take some learning & the cleaning up can be a mess but I love it and find it therapeutic.

If you like letterpress stationery but don't feel like investing in a machine or letterpress set just yet, you can purchase the above sets (or request customized stationeries) from my shop

Drop by and get your hands on these yummy sets

Sweet Journalling Cards

Warning : This is a picture heavy post :) Not going to have a lot of words but would still be nice to go through the pictures with a cup of coffee or tea in your hands *winks*

When I design my stamp sets, I try to think of as many ways as I can to use them (I really do love versatility and that adds more bang for our buck too, right?). And so I think of using them for Project Life cards as well as for mini albums, scrapbooking and of course, card making.

In this post, I am sharing project life cards that I made with my designs (you can get them over at Sweet Stamp Shop or for my Malaysian peeps, I do offer pre-order so we can all save on some shipping. Email me at evelin@evelintdesigns.com)

A monkey, an elephant and a bear :)

Life is a balancing act

Lets fly away

Remembering today

And now, for some close-ups :)

I added Wink of Stella on the balloons. It really does glitter but can't seem to capture that on camera.

I know I have Copic markers but watercolor is so fun too!

And yes,  I fussy-cut all of them :)

Below are the stamp sets I illustrated and you can get them over at Sweet Stamp Shop or pre-order them with me at evelin@evelintdesigns.com (pre-order only open for Malaysian/Singaporean peeps for them to save on shipping. US folks get a great shipping deal from the Sweet Shop)

Juggling Bear

Monkey Business

Elephant Hearts

Thanks for reading all the way through. Hope you love my illustrations as much as I do and find them versatile as well. Remember to post a comment to link me to your projects using them, ya? :)

Card : Happy Birthday Bear

Here's another card I made with the bear that I illustrated. This time around, I replaced the juggling balls with hearts. I think that's pretty sweet, what do you think?

Added splashes of gold as well... I still love gold splatters!

Close up of the bear :)

Hope you like this card I made and also the bear that I illustrated. It is available as a photopolymer stamp from Sweet Stamp Shop. Go get your sweets!

Card : Juggling Bear & Happy Monkey

I was waiting excitedly for the postman to arrive and when I opened the envelope containing the stamps, it felt so surreal. Wow, stamp sets that I designed (!) How awesome is that? I am very thankful to sweet Nicole from Sweet Stamp Shop for having confidence in me & for this fantastic opportunity.

I couldn't wait to ink up the stamps I designed for Sweet Stamp Shop when I received them. However, I had to wait for my hubby to take over baby duties and boy, it seemed like a long wait (although, it really wasn't.. He's great & help out whenever he's home from work. Am VERY grateful for that).

So I inked up quite a number of images on watercolor paper and then painted them when the baby fell asleep. That gives time for the ink to dry completely and not run when I use watercolor so that worked out great :)

This is one of the cards I made (and I will be sharing more in the coming weeks.. I made some Project Life cards with these stamps too) *winks*

Happy Birthday, happy friend :)

I use watercolor to paint my images. I love the translucent effect of watercolor.

And these are two of the 3 sets I designed. You can purchase them over at the Sweet Stamp Shop. Do tell Nicole that I sent you (in the comment section when you purchase).

Friends in Malaysia or Singapore, if you would like to purchase these sets or any other sets from the Sweet Stamp Shop, you can pre-order them from me. Just email me at evelin@evelintdesigns.com with the Subject : "Sweet Pre-Order"

Pre-Order closes on the 10th June PDT.

Greeting Cards

Getting back into the groove of illustrating again last year and slowly but surely finding my own style & character through my art. There will be more refining as time goes by, I am sure, as we all strive to improve but here's my illustrations that I have printed into greeting cards.

They make really cute greeting cards and are available in my shop now. They are blank inside so you can customize your own heartfelt message and some of the cards are appropriate for multiple occasions. Perfect when you buy in bulk to keep for future occasions :)

Sharing a few designs with you here (there's more in the shop!)

  Happy Beary Birthday

Elephant Party

Sweethearts

A Little Magic

Hope you like my illustrations and hop on over to my shop if you are keen to have them in your greeting cards stash :)

*** pssstttt... they can be placed in a frame and voila, it's an art print too!

Free Printable - Mother's Day PL Card

Just for the fun of it, I took out my paintbrush and drew this little illustration for Mother's Day. Writing with a paintbrush is really fun as well. And since this is freehand (no pencil, just dabbed brush in watercolor and paint), there are no restrictions. It is a pretty liberating process.

I am going to share it with all of you here as a free printable journaling card. It is already sized to 4x6 inches and would be great to add into your Project Life to document this special day.

Do hashtag #evelintdesigns if you take pics of how you use these cards on your Instagram or Facebook and if you blog, do link back some love! I would love to see how you use this card :)

And if you like watercolor accents on your journalling cards, I will be adding those to my Shop pretty soon. This is going to be fun!

Happiness

..... can come in many different forms. And for me, one of them was receiving a really happy email from Little Yellow Bicycle sometime early October informing me that I have been given the opportunity to be a part of their 'Once Upon a Christmas' Cycling Team (yeay!

.... and then of course, the anticipation of receiving a box full of goodies from them! (really, they spoil us!!!)

I made 2 layouts and 2 cards and still have lots of leftovers!!! :)

This is the first layout I made. The photos was from last year when I was still in Malaysia. I love the snowflakes on this pp. And assembling the rest of the embellishments on it was effortless.

For this layout, I used the little silver stars as accents and oh, I actually was thinking of hoarding the reindeer (cos I really loved it) but I used it on this layout anyway.. :) I popped it up on pop dots to create some dimension. I also stitched the green pp just because....

Look at the reindeer! Isn't it a doll!!! And the snowflakes on its body! love love love!!

I love the chipboard embellishments they have in this line as well. Ok, I guess you know I have a thing for snowflakes by now :)

This card is made under 10 minutes because LYB has the awesomest papers! :D I cut out a part of a pp with the little boy and girl and popped them on top of another pp, tied some twine on it and finished it off with the 'Merry & Bright' sentiment.

I love the little baubles provided in the chipboard embellishment set as well and created this card with them. I drew the dotted lines and tied the bakers twine before adhering them on the baubles and that's about it! Oh, I added some stickles to them cos I wanted the 'snowy' effect :) And the Merry Christmas sentiment is from the pp where I cut out the little boy and girl! :)

Don't they look pretty? :)

Hedgehogs

I didn't go all out to make Valentine cards this year but I still received a couple of custom orders which was fun :)

Made this cute hedgehog card, painted in with watercolour and I absolutely adore it.

I hope the recipient loves it too :)

3-in-1

3-in-1 brings to my mind, pre-mix coffee... that is the first thing that comes to my mind (erm, cos I'm hopelessly addicted to coffee).

This time around, 3-in-1 is a special request by a sweet girl for me to make a custom card for her boyfriend. It's for Chinese New Year, Valentine's and his Birthday...

It was quite a task actually... I was thinking of how I'm going to incorporate all 3 elements into one cover.. and then, I thought, maybe I can make the card into something like a mini 'album'.... that will give me more room to add more elements and make the card more special :) So, that's how this idea was borned :)

The dude is one lucky dude... Not many girlfriends will order cards for their boyfriends... normally, they expect cards from them... not vice versa *winks*

Christmas Cards

Ok... so the title is lame... haha... I can't think of any other names for the title as of now... Anyway, it's a straight to the point title... :P

I know I've been away from blogging for a while again and I'm sorry.... Have been busy with some orders and craft market preparations the previous 2 weeks or so... am still in the midst of finishing up an order but decided to take a breather and 'appear' here again. I miss my card-making friends... I so need to make my rounds and say 'hi' to each and everyone on their blogs again :D

Just wanted to share this set of Christmas cards printed based on my illustrations :) This year, I didn't make many handmade cards, instead, I decided to print out my illustrations. Change things up a little, you know? haha....

I am so waiting for Christmas :)

Umbrella of Love

You know the song from Mary Poppins which goes something like, "a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down, the medicine go down ...."? Mine is "an umbrella of love puts a smile on your face, a smile on your face ..."

Been dabbling in cardmaking again these last few days. Had to restock as my handmade cards are running low on the stock count and I had to restock my consignment in CzipLee, Bangsar too :)

Going to make more new designs so that you can have more choices in the coming craft markets! :)

Couch day, anyone?

I don't know about you but I *am* definitely needing a couch day! I seem to be bustling around a lot after coming back from our 'holiday' (somehow, it's very tiring to go on holidays... LOL... walked a LOT) and have not really had the time to sit down and just be a couch potato.

And I'm the kind who loves and needs *ME* time. I need time alone to just mind my own business. That's makes me happy and if I have not had the chance to do so, I feel like I have not rested... haha... do you have idiosyncrasies such as mine? Care to share? :)
