Another Custom Illustration

Always a pleasure to receive a request to work on a custom illustrated family portrait. This one is of my aunt and her family.

Watercolor and ink are my favorite medium thus far. I love watercolor for its translucent properties. Kinda dreamy and ethereal :)

Lovebirds

If you followed my blog since before "A Brand New Start", you would know that I illustrate custom portraits as well as greeting cards and art prints. I also hand stitch journals and accept custom requests for them. Basically, I love working with my hands and if you can't find what you want in my shop, I am open to your requests :)

This project that I was working on was of my brother and my sister-in-law. I wanted to give them a gift for their wedding and felt that a custom portrait illustration of them would be a meaningful gift.

 They visited us back in 2012 and we went to Universal Studios together. Love this picture of the two of them and I used it as a guide for their portrait. 

I love the effects of watercolor. Soft and dreamy :) I used wink of stella to add some glitter on the purple background too.

Illustrated Portraitures

I am so excited! This is something that I have been wanting to do for quite a while but it has always been in my 'To Do List' and finally, I put pen to paper (literally) this is what I did!

It is a super fun process and I believe having fun while working makes a lot of difference to a piece of art (and even cooking). Infused with positive, happy and loving vibes from me to you :)

Illustrated ABC Print

So, I have been busy lately... doing quite a bit of illustration and watercoloring which has been so therapeutic and wonderful :)

Some of the illustrations, I turned into cards and they are currently available at The Buttercup LA. They will soon be available on my online shop too (which is in the works at the moment).

I had so much fun drawing and painting these animals for the print.... I had to research some of them too as I wanted this whole print to be ALL animals only :)

It will be printed without the watermark, of course, and packed in a cello bag with backing to protect the print. This print is 8.5 x 11 inches and printed on 110 lbs white  acid-free cardstock.

Custom Cake Toppers

A friend from Malaysia asked if I could paint a couple of cake toppers for their wedding. It's my first time painting cake toppers though, but I do like challenges so I said, 'yes'. 

And this is what I came up with :) She wanted it to be similar to the images on their wedding invitation card :)

It's pretty challenging drawing the smaller details.. but oh-so-fun to do.. haha... I added extra 'butterflies' at the hair on the back of the bride because I thought that would look prettier :) Added some button details on the back too... 

I used Mod Podge to seal and varnish the cake toppers and I love how glossy they look (though it's supposed to be matte finish)... cute, right? Modpodge is non-toxic and that's why I used it instead of the normal varnish I have :)

3-in-1

3-in-1 brings to my mind, pre-mix coffee... that is the first thing that comes to my mind (erm, cos I'm hopelessly addicted to coffee). 

This time around, 3-in-1 is a special request by a sweet girl for me to make a custom card for her boyfriend. It's for Chinese New Year, Valentine's and his Birthday... 

It was quite a task actually... I was thinking of how I'm going to incorporate all 3 elements into one cover.. and then, I thought, maybe I can make the card into something like a mini 'album'.... that will give me more room to add more elements and make the card more special :) So, that's how this idea was borned :) 

The dude is one lucky dude... Not many girlfriends will order cards for their boyfriends... normally, they expect cards from them... not vice versa *winks*
