Shadow Box Frame

My grandma's 78th Birthday was last week and we gathered as a family to take her out for dinner and celebrate with her :) It was fun gathering together, chatting, catching up, laughing and just enjoying each other's company.

Instead of chicken essence, toiletries, etc as birthday gift, this year, I made my grandma a gift from the heart :) My only regret is that this photo doesn't have my brother in it... he's in the US for post-graduate studies at the moment and so, that's why he's not in the picture... sobs.

This photo was taken during my mum's birthday last December :) We celebrated it with her friends as well. Grandma followed us back to Johor to celebrate with her. Was fun :)

I love shadow boxes... because I can just put any embellishments I want and make everything more 3D :) I had wanted to make one of these for the longest time but as always, I'm queen procrastinator, you know... haha

Am gonna make more :) Warning : Making this can get addictive :)

Bookmarks! :)

Wanted to blog about these bookmarks I made yesterday but Blogger seems to be having some issues with me... The page kept loading but doesn't allow me to post pictures or blog.. boo hoo.... so here I am :)

Made these bookmarks I really, really love using twine! I am loving the twines and the beads... I got the beads some time back but erm, it was an impulse buy so I had no idea what to do with them after purchasing them....

But now, I am glade I bought them! :) I am having so much fun making these bookmarks! Am running out of beads, though... hmmm... beads shopping, anyone? Shirl? :P

Arts for Grabs!

I had the most fun the last weekend! This is my first time participating in a handmade art market (I don't think there's many in Malaysia as well) and it was the jolliest time for me in quite a while!

I met so many indie artists and fell in love with so many things but I had to resist temptation and I only spend on a handbound notebook. Well, I have a very, very soft spot for stationaries..... and notebook is one of them! It is a very lovely notebook! And the seller offers classes which I already signed up for! :P

My hanging wall deco :)

My stall shared with Alvin... have to think of better ways to display in the future to accommodate more things! :P

My 'shop' name! :) Hand-drawn & hand-stamped

Some of the things for sale

My notecards were very well received!

Stuck some cards on the wall to grab attention

As far as experience goes, AFG has given me a good one & I made quite a few good friends. My neighbour and I even collaborated towards the end of the second day selling my mum's handmade blooms which she turned into a pin. She pinned it on her tudung, and I immediately got sales! lol! We're gonna talk about how to go further into it! :P

Arts For Grabs

I'm going to be at the Arts for Grabs (AFG) with my friend, Alvin, showcasing (of cos all items are for sale) our artwork. Alvin takes great pictures and this time around he's showcasing his pictures of sceneries & sunsets around the world :)

As for me, I'm showcasing my handmade cards, notecards, gift tags, altered photo frame and chimes. Gonna be offering classes to make mini albums & stuff too. Come along, have a look and see if anything from our booth tickles your fancy!

Location : Annexe Gallery, Central Market
It's at the building adjacent to Central Market at the back... Just walk through Central Market to the back, take the lift to the 2nd floor or walk up the stairs to the top floor.
Time : 12noon - 8-pm

There'll be a lot of other indie artists showcasing their  wares too! Come! Have fun! Chat with us! We want to see you!!! :D

Challenge... challenge

I guess most of you know that I'm a card-maker at heart.... there are times when I dabble in mini albums and small projects but I seem to shy away from 12x12 scrapbook LO :P

And yes, I'm still a bit shy..... I am definitely making a commitment to make two 12x12 pages by end of October but erm, for now, here's a 6x6.... start small, then we work our way up, k? :D

This LO is based on this "Photo Inspiration Challenge" by Papier. Here's the very lovely photo... how not to be inspired? *winks*

colourlovers.com.jpg

Very lovely kitchen and colours, no? I love it! It looks so clean and fresh... and since I don't create LOs a lot, I had to think quite hard to create mine.. hehe... I wish I'm a tad bit like Jessy, Amy or Savitri. They seem to create LOs effortlessly :)

Anyway, here's my take based on the photo above. This is an 'up-cycled' calendar... you know, those table calendar we throw away each year end? I hoarded saved some and it's proving to be useful! I love that it's already sturdy and makes a nice piece of art, ya? :)

Photo quality is not as good as I want it to be cos I took it at night and lighting is not fantastic. I love taking pictures in the morning or afternoon... the colours are always lovelier! :) The cardstock base is hand-stamped and then coloured to match the tiles on the photo.

I used glossy accent to highlight some of the tiles too and even misted the base and the flowers with gold iridescent spray. It looks a little sparkly :) Oh, and thank you Cindy for the lovely lace ribbon and doily... they help make this project work! :)

Love how it's already made to stand on the table! hehe... yeshhh, I'm lazy so this helps! :)

Envelope Album

I didn't manage to make any cards last weekend, except for one, hence the lack of posts this week :P I was busy starting and completing 2 new projects, though. An envelope album and a 'flip' album (I think that's what it's called...)

Here's the envelope album that I completed. I love mini albums. I guess I like mini stuffs better than large layouts... haha... I seem to have trouble with 12x12 scrapbook pages but am perfectly happy with mini albums :)

Just a few pages from the album.... I think I'm going to make more.... it's addictive plus it's really quite fun to make :)

God Loves You!

Finally completed ALL the bookmarks that my aunt requested. Took me a whole day to do it.. hmmm :) Maybe next time, I shouldn't be so ambitious and wanna make 3D pop-up for ALL the 22 bookmarks :P

The cutting is what takes time... that and the concept-generating part. I suck at making boy-themed cards/bookmarks. Girlie ones are SOOooooOo much easier to make! :)

Anyway, here's my bookmarks. Hope you like it too!

Bookmarks for kids!

I bought some Dotted Swiss Bazill papers after falling in love with it! And now, I think you might see quite a lot of cards with this background for a while... :P I will *try* to remember to use normal cardstock but no promises!

Anyway, my aunt asked me to help make some bookmarks for her. It's for some 7 year old kids that she teaches.

It's easier to make girly bookmarks but boyish ones? aiks... I think I might have problems with that.... cos I don't have any stamps with cars or trains or boyish stuff... I think I know what to buy in the near future to add to my massively growing stash! :)

Thankfully, DH never really asks how much I spent on all these art supplies. That and also the fact that he really supports the things that I do :)

So here's 2 designs so far. I will have to make another one de
sign at least... something more boyish... oh, and my aunt wants me to add the words 'God loves you'. Hmmm... I'm thinking to either stamp them on or print them out and paste them on the bookmark... what do you think?

Joy - My first acetate project!

Today's challenge over at 365Cards is to create a card that doubles as something else :) Oh boy, this is another toughie! They are piling us with toughies, each passing day, huh?

I've been wanting to make myself a bookmark. I love bookmarks growing up cos I love to read, a lot. Don't read as much these days as I wish I do, but this little bookmark will come in handy :)

I've adhered cardstock to the back as well so I could actually write a message and give it away as a card if I want to. But I think I will keep this one :) This is the first time I'm making a project using acetate as well. Am loving the effect! I'm sure I will be doing more projects with this soon!

Here's my card. Day 170's Double Duty :)

Thanks for looking! :)

I'm Guest Designer over at Paper Blooms

Happy Wednesday to all of you
!!!

It's midweek! Finally :) Another 2 days and it's the weekend!! I've got a bit of mix feelings for this coming weekend cos as much as I look forward to the activities to be held, but I do love my time alone. And I won't have much of that with back-to-back activities that's going to happen this weekend.... I'm a bit of a loner :P

Oh, but can you guess just how excited I am today? Nope? :P I'm so very excited because I'm Guest Designer over at Paper Blooms for the month of August! *wow* It's such a privilege for me to be their GD :) Thanks Leah!

This week's challenge is to create a home decor piece. It can be anything you dream up from simple to lavish! :)

I made a frame art that can be hung or sit on a table :) It's sitting on my table at the moment as I craft.

The butterfly is coloured in with Copic then filled up with Glossy accent. Then I arranged the blings one by one to create the flourish you see. I think I might create a few more of these for gifts.
