You are a Fab Friend!

Made this card with a friend in mind.... Although I don't say it out loud, but she is a FAB friend and she's been one of my longest friend. This card is not really based on any sketch, kinda scraplifted from the previous card I made :P  I just took out the Mod Squad stamp set from PTI and Hero Arts' stamp set and decided on the layout.

Hope you'll like it too :)

Time to relax!

One of my aunt just undergone a surgery to remove her gallbladder. There were almost 50 stones inside that gallbladder making it most uncomfortable for her and I guess, the only solution was to get rid of it.

My mum was thinking of going over to Aussie to take care of my aunt.. unfortunately, for some reasons, she was unable to fly over. Well, I thank God that my cousin is a big girl already and she would be able to help take care of her mother and it's time for my uncle to rise up and be the man of the kitchen :P Who knows, it might uncover some hidden talents....

This card is for her :)

I made it based on CardPattern's sketch #34. As you can see, I tweaked the sketch a little :P Well, one has to be a rebel once in a while.. It's already in the post. Hope she gets it soon and hopefully she likes it too! :)

Hello there!

I hope times like these lasts :) Times when I can craft and the mojo keeps coming ;p You know how sometimes the creative juices keeps flowing? And sometimes you'll be on a dry spell and it takes ages to just create card? I know some of you understands :)

For today, I'm combining GetSketchy's Sketch #7 and MoxieFabWorld's Gradient is Radiant challenge. I forgot about GetSketchy's bonus challenge to distress the papers :P Well, maybe next time I'll remember....

And oh, I just discovered the scheduled post option on Blogger... I didn't know I was using the old Blogger version which didn't include that option :P Now, I can blog in advance first :) Oh, just one more thing I need to figure out, maybe you ladies can help me, how do I change the 'comment' word into something else?

Nature-inspired

My friend "who loves whispering with sheep" asked me to make a card for her. She wants it to be 'nature'-inspired, well, based on my understanding of the photo she attached in the email.

I initially wanted to do a photo-transfer for this card, using packing tape. But then I realized the printer I have at home is inkjet, not laser jet. The technique can only work on photos printed out using laser jet printer... darn. Otherwise, I think that would have resulted in a really cool looking card.

Didn't have any paint I could use as well but found this really pretty paper which I've been hoarding saving. It's from Basic Grey and I fell in love with this piece so I've not been wanting to use it.. :P

                    Code :  AO0056

But it does shout 'nature' and the colours are suitable for a guy.... so, I distressed the edges to make it look slightly edgy and used glossy accents to highlight some of the flowers (I don't know what they are) to give the card more interest. She wanted it single layer with no sentiment.... I hope she likes it.

Super Sketchy Sunday - Day 211

I revel in the moments when I can sit down and craft! Those are some of the happiest moments in my life :P  And I know of a certain colleague who thinks exactly the same way. She hopes to sit at home and craft as well... :)  Wonder when both our wishes can come true.....

It was a cool morning... started out with a bright sunny day but when we came out from church, we saw rain. Thank God for the rain cos it's been really hot these past few days. And I was so tired in the afternoon, I slept! I usually don't take naps, well, not since I started working... not even during the weekends but I think I might have been a little too exhausted :P

I made a card my friend ordered... she wants it more 'nature'-themed.. I'll share that with you in the next post. Here is my card for 365Cards' Super Sketchy Sunday sketch challenge. Pam is one talented lady... I don't know how she keeps those challenges coming ;)

Here's my take on her sketch. Hop on over there to see what the other ladies have come up with :)

2 Birthday Cards..

A friend asked me to make 2 birthday cards for her. One based on an existing design and another for her brother who's training to become a chef :)

I thought for a while and decided to use a chef's hat as a focal point on the card.... went searching for an image I can refer to and drew this hat! I paper-pieced the hat to add interest to it, sewn the ribbon down (I had comments from some friends that they don't like it stapled...uh, whatever :P), added finishing touches and voila! A birthday card for a chef! I thought the colours are kinda cheery and apt for birthdays.

The second card is mostly based on an existing design. I changed the hearts to butterflies, though. Like I said, I try not to repeat everything exactly the same :) Hope she likes the cards!

I've been really busy and had no time to craft after I come home from work. Am missing all the crafting in the night but I guess I have to make-do with crafting during the weekends. Until things settle, that is. Hope to resume to the 'normal' routine soon :)

A Birthday treat....!

This is what I received in the mail today! Well, technically, I went to the post office to pick it up as it I was not home when they delivered this sweet package! :) Don't you love receiving letters/packages? I do! I'm old-fashioned that way :P

I am so blessed to have met Cindy through our mutual love for cardmaking few months ago :) She's Malaysian as well but lives about 400 km away from me.

She's such a sweetie! She found out about my birthday and sent me this package full of goodies! Loving everything that she put in. So very blessed to be receiving birthday gifts even after my birthday has passed few weeks ago. I can't wait to craft with them, dearie :)

Hope to meet up with you when you come down to KL next month! Can't wait :)

Tuesday Triplets

Seriously been way too busy and away from the crafting society that I feel very left out. There's just so much work to do because ..... well, I can't tell you guys anything yet but there will be a great reveal..LOL... if things work out :)

Praying for directions but I think I'm not seeking Him enough. That, or my heart is not still enough to hear His voice.

Anyway.... I managed to complete a card for 365Cards' Tuesday Triplets challenge. I scraplifted myself for this card :)  Making a flat, single layer card for Christmas to save on postage.. :) Kinda loving the elegant look it has though my Dad didn't really think too much of it :P

What do you think? It'll be part of a set that I'm making :)

Happy Holidays... and lotsa getting used to

There's still so much of getting used to that I need when using Mac. It's supposed to be really friendly but there's so much of "windows" still left in me....

So much to learn on how to use this machine....

Anyway, here's a card to share with you today. It's not from any challenges... Just a Christmas card I thought of making. This is a flat card... should be very cost efficient :)

Hope you like it! :)

Absence

Sorry for the absence from the wonderful world of cardmaking, folks >.<

I'm superbly tied down with work this week... working into the wee hours of the night on most days, so I'm usually too tired to craft. Have to wake up at 7am to get to work....

It's going to be a long weekend here in Malaysia again, so I really hope to catch up on work! :)

Will be lurking around, but not so much....

Celebrate Today

Been kinda occupied with other things revolving around that I neglected making cards again :P I did manage to make this card today! But I might have added more than just a touch of colours as compared to the challenge requirement :P

Day 196 : Just a touch. Pam's challenge is to add just a touch of colour somewhere on a stamped (ink/digi) black on white. I might have gotten a little excited and coloured a little bit more than just a touch :P

I hope it's still acceptable for the challenge :)

Celebrate today! More of YOU and less of me....

Special Friend Blend

2S4Y has 2 sketches this week :) I've already completed one sketch and here's a card I made based on their bonus sketch! I'm in love with PTI as you can see :P I love their stamp sets and I'm sure I'll be getting more in the near future!

Will make an attempt to remember to use my other stamp sets in case 'they' feel neglected...haha.

I better get to bed. I actually told myself to get in bed earlier tonight but I suddenly felt like making a card...

*yawns*

Time to sleep now, though :D

Cupid's here!

Received a custom order requesting for a special card. He was very specific on what he wanted. Designs, colour, layout :) Sometimes it really helps when the said person knows what they want.

I tried my best to accommodate all his requests and I hope I did a good job :P He texted me saying the girl likes the card after he gave it to her :) I'm, of course, delighted to hear that.

I drew all the images, coloured them in and then covered them in glossy accent! I wanted the images to have some gloss and look more 3D, though I've popped them up with dimensionals. Added blings and clouds on the card as well to create some interest.

The card opens up to a ribbon holding a vintage looking scroll. I forgot to take a picture of that :P He wanted me to print out a poem he chosed for the girl and I suggested we tie it with a ribbon :) It looks cool and he has space to write additional messages should he choose to.

I specially made an envelope for this card as well. It opens up to reveal the card :) Only thing is, I'll want to improve on the envelope in the future.. Use thicker materials instead of my normal envelope paper...

Using blooms...

Do you like blooms? Do you think this card is too pink? :P I love the blooms, though...

Made this card based on 2S4Y's sketch #34. Tweaked the sketch a little... naughty me. I didn't follow 100%.

Cut a hole out in the middle of the card and replaced it with an acetate window. Stamped, cut the blooms out and popped them up with pop dots :) Love the 3D effects the blooms make.

Hope this card is acceptable! :)

Happy Sweet Birthday

I absolutely love kraft paper! PTI has the best quality cardstock I have used so far! It really is thick and wonderful :) Well, I have always loved the natural colour of kraft plus looking at Kristina using is all the time over at her blog makes me want to try my hands at them too and so, I ordered some from PTI :)

And boy am I NOT disappointed! Loving it!

Anyways, enough about me and my *lust* for all things PTI :P Here's a card I made for 365Cards' Day 192 "So Sweet" & Get Sketchy's GS#4 challenge. The challenge is to include the word "sweet" on the card. And my challenge to myself is to make a more masculine card eventhough I have to include the word "sweet" :)

And here's my card... well, the colours a bit masculine :P But I think I can give it to girls too, ya? :)

Moxie Fab World Christmas Challenge

Thank you girls for your comments on my post office incident. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for Tuesday to arrive sooner... first time in my life, I'm wishing for a weekday to arrive that is not a Friday :P Will let you girls know when I receive my parcel...

Okay, so I have just heard (or read) about Moxie Fab World. Where have I been all this while? hmmmm .... I couldn't imagine just finding out about this blog! :D Cos it's fabulous! And you know what the coolest thing is? There's 4 PTI stamp sets to be given away! *GASP* Yes, you read correctly!! Hop on over to read the rules to join :)

Their challenge this time is to create a Holiday Card :) I was scratching my poor sleepy head on what designs to create and then I thought, hey, why don't I use the sketch from this week's sketch over at CardPatterns to base the design on! And I think it worked out beautifully! :P

Here's my card... and I'm keeping my fingers crossed till they announced the winner of the PTI stamp sets... I LOVE LOVE LOVE their sets and well, those in the parcel that have not arrived (stuck in Post) is all PTI goodness!! Can't wait! :)

Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #16

Time for another Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge :) I have missed a few, I think and it's time to get back at participating *grins*

I had initially wanted to use my new PTI teapot stamp for this colour challenge. I had it all laid out in my head. How I wanted to theme it for this card. By the way, this card is based on Get Sketchy's sketch #3 which I missed because I was waiting for that stamp to arrive.... sigh.

So, I had all the 'ingredients' ready and was waiting for the final item to complete this ensemble but the Post had to give me some problems. My stamps were supposed to reach me on the 2nd Sept... but now, I have to drive all the way to their depot on Tuesday (cos they're closed on Monday) to collect it. They claimed to have attempted to deliver it but there was no note in the postbox indicating it. I am still mad thinking about this.... so let's move on....

Anyway, Hubby got me some clear stamps (+ a body shampoo+a bar or choc... I know..kinda random) for my birthday!!! Besides treating me to a delicious Japanese meal, that is :)

THANKS HUBBY!!

But I was kinda moody...maybe it's the birthday thing... one year older, you know... :P

So, here I am crafting with the owls from the Hero Arts stamps that he gave me! Can't stop me from lovin' those cute owls too! :D

Pos Malaysia SUCKS!

Yes, I'm very emotional right now.
I hate Pos Malaysia and it S-U-C-K-S!!! Big time!

Some of you know that I'm waiting very expectantly for my parcel from PTI. And I check USPS frequently to track where the parcel is and found out that it touched down in Malaysia on the 28th August and already cleared foreign customs on the same day.

Since 31st August is a public holiday, I was expecting them to arrive maybe one or two days later.... and so it did. On the 2nd Sept. The eve of my birthday... but guess what? I'm not sure if the maid was not at home or she didn't hear the postman but they 'claimed' that they failed to deliver it. Normally they are supposed to leave a note informing the receiver that they have attempted to send it but they did not.

I didn't receive any note from them. If I did, I would have gone to the post office to pick it up myself and have a very happy birthday.....

Thank GOD I checked the USPS website again today cos I'm beginning to worry... called stupid Pos Malaysia and they said I can't pick it up tomorrow cos they are closed and Monday is a public holiday again, so they are again CLOSED...

You know how much it sucks when you're expecting those lovely stamps to play with and it's in the stupid pos office and you just can't get to it??????

I am really upset...

Joy

Feeling blue today?

Definitely not me :) cos I'm on leave today.... and the weather was marvelously cooling today! Love it!

Well, Day 185's Challenge is Feeling Blue. The challenge is to use at least 3 shades of blue. I love blue!

By the way, I have 3 shades of blue plus some other colours... I think it's ok, right? Does it count as cheating? :P Pam didn't say we can't use other colours, did she?

Haha... me, the rebel in the making :P

Update : Oops, I just realized after reading One4Joy's that I actually based this card on 2S4Y's sketch 34 and I forgot to mention it...yikes.. but I'm on time this week! :P So, basically this card is based on Day 185's : Feeling Blue and Kazan's Sketch 34 :)

Last week's sketch...haha!

Yesterday was National Day for Malaysia and of course, we were all on holiday! :) And I took an extra day off today... well, for an added day of rest and card-making! I just love staying home and making cards :) What's more... weather's on my side today. It's been really cooling the whole day. It drizzled and stopped periodically and was cloudy all day long!

A good change from the usual heat and bright, oh so bright sun!

Spent the first half of the morning completing a custom order. I will post it up tonight, perhaps. Still need to add on some finishing touches.

Watched Confessions of a Shopaholic (love it!) and while watching it, I completed 2S4Y's sketch. Just realized I was making a card based on last week's sketch! hahaha.... I completely missed it :P Ok, must attempt this week's sketch as well :D

Here's my card anyway... one week late, whatever :P
