Project Life : Week 15 + 16

Today, I am sharing parts of my Project Life Week 15 and 16. I used some of the journalling cards that I watercolored, scanned and printed and also the stamps that I illustrated for Sweet Stamp Shop.

Can you spot my journalling cards?

This little dancing/juggling bear is one of the illustrations I did for Sweet Stamp Shop. I hope that you will see be inspired to use these stamps for Project Life and not only just for card making. They are also pretty cute when used in a planner or organizer (something I will share in a future post).

By now, you have realized that you need them in your stash too, right? :P Head on over to the Sweet Stamp Shop and buy now!

Letterpress delight

I have been fascinated by the letterpress since 2010. Back then, I really contemplated in getting the Epic 6 but it was SOOOO expensive in Malaysia which prompted me to do quite a lot of research on it. I didn't want to invest in a machine (plus accessories) that was going to set me back thousands of Ringgit if I am unable to justify it and so I scoured the internet for reviews.

Most of the reviews mentioned that the plates cracked. And being in Malaysia, I wasn't really sure if I could get plates made or how to go about it too. So, I decided to wait until the industry came out with better machines and better quality plates.

Come 2012, we packed and moved to Los Angeles. I had to sell a lot of my scrapbooking supplies and it was a good thing that I have not invested in the letterpress machine just yet.

Then letterpress came into the limelight again sometime last year, with Studio Calico promoting it. I was tempted again but waited. Was I glad I waited! We R Memory Keepers came out with Evolution Advanced and when I saw the great deal being offered on HSN (well, I saw the info posted by my IG friend.. haha), I decided to take the plunge.....

I made these and they make great accents for Project Life and even for card making :)

I am so glad I made this purchase. From now on, I will finally be able to die-cut, emboss and letterpress (happy dance!). It does take some learning & the cleaning up can be a mess but I love it and find it therapeutic.

If you like letterpress stationery but don't feel like investing in a machine or letterpress set just yet, you can purchase the above sets (or request customized stationeries) from my shop

Drop by and get your hands on these yummy sets

Sweet Journalling Cards

Warning : This is a picture heavy post :) Not going to have a lot of words but would still be nice to go through the pictures with a cup of coffee or tea in your hands *winks*

When I design my stamp sets, I try to think of as many ways as I can to use them (I really do love versatility and that adds more bang for our buck too, right?). And so I think of using them for Project Life cards as well as for mini albums, scrapbooking and of course, card making.

In this post, I am sharing project life cards that I made with my designs (you can get them over at Sweet Stamp Shop or for my Malaysian peeps, I do offer pre-order so we can all save on some shipping. Email me at evelin@evelintdesigns.com)

A monkey, an elephant and a bear :)

Life is a balancing act

Lets fly away

Remembering today

And now, for some close-ups :)

I added Wink of Stella on the balloons. It really does glitter but can't seem to capture that on camera.

I know I have Copic markers but watercolor is so fun too!

And yes,  I fussy-cut all of them :)

Below are the stamp sets I illustrated and you can get them over at Sweet Stamp Shop or pre-order them with me at evelin@evelintdesigns.com (pre-order only open for Malaysian/Singaporean peeps for them to save on shipping. US folks get a great shipping deal from the Sweet Shop)

Juggling Bear

Monkey Business

Elephant Hearts

Thanks for reading all the way through. Hope you love my illustrations as much as I do and find them versatile as well. Remember to post a comment to link me to your projects using them, ya? :)

I heart Coleto

I have always been a sucker lover of stationery and when my dearest IG friend mentioned about these yummy Coleto pens, I had to get them. She was so kind to purchase them for me on her recent trip to Japan and what can I say... I am now officially in love with them.

Truth be told, as much as I wanted them (pretty badly too.. haha), I am not a big fan of multi-pen. I don't know why but they just don't attract me very much. However, these do look pretty cute and Sam told me she loves them. That is enough to get me sold. I trust her taste in stationery :)

I bought 3 barrels in pastel colors and the limited edition clover refills

Sweet, sweet colors :)

The ink glides smoothly on my Moleskine, planner, normal paper.... basically anything I wrote on so far. I love the colors too and well, the little clover design is just the tiny detail that made me love it even more.

If you don't have a sweet friend to buy it for you from Japan but still would love to get your hands on some, I found out that Jetpens has them too. They my not have the clover refills but they do have everything else. Oh, and I love Jetpens for my stationery fix!

Another Custom Illustration

Always a pleasure to receive a request to work on a custom illustrated family portrait. This one is of my aunt and her family.

An original custom family portrait

Watercolor and ink are my favorite medium thus far. I love watercolor for its translucent properties. Kinda dreamy and ethereal :)

A close-up :)

If you want to own an original custom illustration of your own, contact me here or check this page in my shop to order yours now!

(The custom portraits there are only samples. You will get your own custom illustration)

Card : Happy Birthday Bear

Here's another card I made with the bear that I illustrated. This time around, I replaced the juggling balls with hearts. I think that's pretty sweet, what do you think?

Added splashes of gold as well... I still love gold splatters!

Close up of the bear :)

Hope you like this card I made and also the bear that I illustrated. It is available as a photopolymer stamp from Sweet Stamp Shop. Go get your sweets!

Project Life : Week 14

Just sharing another week that I did for Project Life. I really simplified it a lot, preferring to journal more and keep embellishments to a minimum.

Am still figuring out how to photograph them clearer. I tried taking them out from the pockets but maybe the lighting was still not bright enough or my hands were not steady enough but these still don't look very sharp to me.

Week 14 Part 1

Week 14 Part 2

Using a cork shaped embellishment that I cut out. I love how it's subtle and yet gives dimension to the page.

Will continue to find ways to take sharper, clearer Project Life images. Do share tips if you have any. I will appreciate it heaps!

Card : Juggling Bear & Happy Monkey

I was waiting excitedly for the postman to arrive and when I opened the envelope containing the stamps, it felt so surreal. Wow, stamp sets that I designed (!) How awesome is that? I am very thankful to sweet Nicole from Sweet Stamp Shop for having confidence in me & for this fantastic opportunity.

I couldn't wait to ink up the stamps I designed for Sweet Stamp Shop when I received them. However, I had to wait for my hubby to take over baby duties and boy, it seemed like a long wait (although, it really wasn't.. He's great & help out whenever he's home from work. Am VERY grateful for that).

So I inked up quite a number of images on watercolor paper and then painted them when the baby fell asleep. That gives time for the ink to dry completely and not run when I use watercolor so that worked out great :)

This is one of the cards I made (and I will be sharing more in the coming weeks.. I made some Project Life cards with these stamps too) *winks*

Happy Birthday, happy friend :)

I use watercolor to paint my images. I love the translucent effect of watercolor.

And these are two of the 3 sets I designed. You can purchase them over at the Sweet Stamp Shop. Do tell Nicole that I sent you (in the comment section when you purchase).

Friends in Malaysia or Singapore, if you would like to purchase these sets or any other sets from the Sweet Stamp Shop, you can pre-order them from me. Just email me at evelin@evelintdesigns.com with the Subject : "Sweet Pre-Order"

Pre-Order closes on the 10th June PDT.

Happy Totoro Mail

Everyone loves a happy mail, right? I know I do. I love checking the mailbox to see if there's any happy mail (even if I know there isn't going to be any.. haha). I guess this stems from days when I was actively writing pen pal letters and post crossing.

And I do love Totoro. For those who don't know who or what Totoro is... well, he is a mythical creature or "keeper of the forest" created by Hayao Miyazaki in his film "My Neighbour Totoro". I find the movie endearing and Totoro found a place in my heart since I first watched it more than 10 years ago.

When my dearest IG friend told me she was going to Japan, I asked if she could help find me a totoro keychain and she was really sweet to hunt it down for me. I was so happy anticipating my happy Totoro mail and am so glad to hold him in my hands :)

* Thanks, Sam! *

Totoro found a place on my pencil case. It holds a lot of my favorite stationeries.

I love you, Totoro!

What kind of happy mail makes your day? Do drop a comment and share it with me. I would love to know.

I designed these!

Once upon a time, I dreamt of one day designing stamp sets for crafters to use.

Once upon a time when I first started card-making, I dreamt that maybe one day I would be able to illustrate some stamp sets that I can call my own.

And now this dream of mine has finally materialized and I am beyond ecstatic! I am designing for Sweet Stamp Shop now (cue rainbows, snowflakes and happy dance!) and these are the sets we are launching today! Check out the Sweet Blog for loads of inspirations using these sets.

Juggling Act

Monkey Business

Elephant Hearts

Dots do connect. If we look back, we will be able to see them connect so beautifully. We just have to believe.

I hope you love my illustrations and will use them for your card-making, scrapbooking, Project Life and crafting purposes. I will be sharing my greeting cards and Project Life cards made using these stamps. First card shared will be up on Friday! :)

Also, please do link back and leave me a comment if you use the images from the stamp sets I designed. I would LOVE to see how you use them!

And best of all, you get 10% OFF if you purchase today on RELEASE DAY with this code JR310. Head on over to the SWEET Shop now!
